Ovarian Vein Embolization

What previously required invasive surgery can now be done with a tiny needle puncture. Ovarian Vein Embolization (OVE) is minimally invasive, less painful, safer, and offers a shorter recovery time.

Minimally Invasive

Only a tiny needle puncture in the skin is needed

Shorter Recovery Time

Recovery is typically just 3 days

Fewer Complications

Rate of complications is much lower than surgery

The Pelvic Congestion Syndrome Solution

Discover why women are choosing this FDA-approved alternative to hysterectomy for treating PCS.

If you’ve been diagnosed with pelvic congestion syndrome, you may have been told that hysterectomy or birth control pills are your only treatment options. However, did you know that Ovarian Vein Embolization (OVE), a non-surgical, FDA-approved alternative to hysterectomy, can successfully treat pelvic congestion syndrome?

What is Ovarian Vein Embolization?

Ovarian Vein Embolization (OVE) is a minimally invasive procedure that is used to treat pelvic congestion syndrome. This condition is caused by the dilatation of veins in the pelvis, which can cause chronic pelvic pain. OVE helps relieve pain by using imaging guidance and a catheter to close off faulty veins so they can no longer enlarge with blood.

The procedure is performed by interventional radiologists, who are specially trained to do minimally invasive vascular procedures. During OVE, the radiologist uses X-ray guidance to position a catheter through a small needle puncture in the leg and into the targeted blood vessel.

A dye is injected to create an X-ray map (venogram) of the vein, and embolic agents are inserted through the catheter to block the veins supplying the enlarged veins.

Faster Recovery. Greater Comfort.

Recovery time for OVE is much faster than invasive surgery because there is no incision to heal or stitches to be removed. Patients who undergo OVE have reported high satisfaction with a 80% success rate in pain reduction.

Patients may initially have some cramping and nausea, but this tapers off over the course of several days. Most patients typically return to work and light activities a day or two after the procedure, and report that they feel recovered within seven days.
